Post-conference field trip
The post-conference field trip is NOT INCLUDED in the conference registration and the conference fee (see Program & registration) Cost for the excursion includes all lodging (6 nights), breakfasts, lunches and 3 dinners. Cost for the remaining 3 dinners will need to be covered by participants at local restaurants. Sites related to seismic investigations to be visited include the Siljan Ring area where the reflective dolerite sills were drilled, the Ludvika area where extensive seismic investigations have been performed for mining purposes and the Swedish Caledonides, the site of two c. 2.5 km deep scientific boreholes. Sites of a more touristic nature include the high coast area north of Sundsvall, the Falun copper mine, and the Lockne impact crater. More details concerning sites to be visited will be presented in the 3rd circular. The excursion will be able to accommodate about 20 participants. Tentative route for the excursion is shown in the map below:
The tentative schedule for the field trip is as follows:
29th June: Depart Uppsala with visits to the Dannemora and Ludvika mining sites. Stay overnight in Ludvika.
30th June: Depart Ludvika with Visits to the Falun Copper mine and the Siljan Ring. Stay overnight in Mora.
1st July: Depart Mora with visit to the Lockne impact crater and continuing to Åre. Stay overnight in Åre.
2nd July: Visits to sites in the Åre area connected to the Collisional Orogeny in the Scandinavian Caledonides (COSC) project.
3rd July: Depart Åre and driving to the high coast area with stops along the way. Stay overnight in Söråker.
4th July: Visit sites in the Nordingrå area of the high coast.
5th July: Depart Söråker for Uppsala with visit to the Bollnäs post-glacial fault.
